
PLASTIC, METAL, PAPER AND GLASS
There are three containers for sorting out the package waste. The waste from the differently painted containers is collected according to a different schedule assuring in that way that the waste is not mixed together.
Blue: for paper and cardboard waste
Yellow: for plastic and metal waste
Green: for glass waste
For all three containers apply the following rules. Before sorting your waste, empty the package from its content, wash it, and fold it as much as possible to reduce its volume.
DO NOT RECYCLE:
Contaminated packages and ones that have contained hazardous chemical substances; batteries and accumulators; tubes from car oil; toys, light bulbs, electrical devices, window or mirror glass, dishware, hygienic materials, wallpapers; flower pots; oversize waste, construction waste
BULKY ITEMS
If you have to get rid of a large item (e.g. wardrobe, bed; constructional waste) you can call a transportation agency which will dismantle the item and take it to a field for such kind of waste (e.g. www.junk.bg; tovarniprevozi.bg). Or you can find the address of the field in your area by typing in Google “oversize waste” and the name of your area, and take the item to the field with your own transport.

ЕLECTRONIC DEVICES
To get rid of your broken or obsolete electronics you can give it in at every store selling such items. Another possibility is to find an agency that would collect for free the electronics from your home (e.g. www.eltechresource.com). A third option would be to donate the item at www.podariavam.com.
HAZARDOUSWASTE
For the moment, mobile stations collecting hazardous waste (cleaning products containing high percentage of acids or bases, solvents, mercury thermometers, contaminated packages marked with a hazard symbol, expired, unwanted, or unusedmedicines) are being organized in Sofia, VelikoTarnovo, Plovdiv, Radomir, Sredets and Sliven. For organizing a station in your area, call at 02/ 843 51 88.
The hazardous waste is collected for free from your home upon a request made in advance or a once per month in a mobile collecting station. In Sofia, once per year a three day campaign is being organized. The phone number for information and requests is 0700 11 750 (Mon- Fri, 9-18h) at the cost of a local call. If you are unable to reach an agent, a voicemail will register your message and an agent will call you back on the first business day. Expired, unused or unwanted drugs are being collected only in a mobile station. RECYCLING OF LIGHTING BODIES
Electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) marked with a a crossed out wheelie bin with or without a single black line underneath, needs to be recycled in specialized for that waste stations.
Information for the for the disposal stations for EEE can be obtained from the Regional inspection of the environment and waters (RIEW) in the whole country, the local agency for waste collection or the local service for household waste disposal.
